At Les Apprimeurs, we have always believed that access to written material is a fundamental right. For the past ten years, this commitment has been reflected in our European projects, where we develop paper and digital educational resources that are accessible to those who are furthest removed from reading.

In 2024, a new step came naturally: moving beyond our role as publishers to go out and meet our audiences. To do this, we created the association Les Expéditions in Saint-Nazaire to test our resources in the field, pass on our know-how, and above all, give everyone the desire and confidence to make books.

This commitment extends to all areas of life: education, training, culture and public information. As part of this initiative, we are actively involved in the European project ‘Text it Easy’, co-funded by the European Union, which aims to raise awareness among training professionals about the use of clear language in their materials and communications.

To ensure that this commitment is not only upheld by a few members of the team but shared by everyone, we decided to undergo collective training in FALC (Facile à Lire et à Comprendre, or Easy to Read and Understand). Over two days, the entire Apprimeurs team attended the ‘Writing in FALC’ training course led by Carole Schuman from Com’access. A passionate and inspiring trainer, a balanced mix of theory and practice, and concrete examples tailored to our editorial realities: everything came together for an effective and stimulating skills development experience.

Today, we are equipped and enthusiastic to implement several FALC projects this summer, in collaboration with our partners. Making texts accessible also means making people visible!
